What is Steel Security Fencing?
At QFence, we specialise in the installation of steel security fencing for a wide range of commercial and industrial facilities, including warehouses, factories, public utilities, schools, and government precincts. Our steel security fencing solutions are designed to provide the highest level of protection, with spear top steel security panels and gates typically installed between 1800mm and 2400mm in height.
As security concerns continue to rise, steel security fencing has become an essential choice for property owners looking for strong, reliable protection. Unlike traditional chainwire fences, a steel security fence offers a significant barrier to entry, as it is virtually impossible to cut and difficult to damage. The spear top pickets also make climbing over the fence a challenge, further enhancing its effectiveness.
The benefits of steel security fencing include:
- High resistance to tampering and unauthorised access.
- Increased durability compared to chainwire fencing.
- Enhanced visual deterrent with spear top design.
- Customizable height options for different security needs.

Common Configurations
“Spear top” Fences (most commonly Black powdercoated Steel, but also available in Alumiunium). This is also often called “Palisade” or “Hercules” fencing. This type of fencing is becoming very common at Schools, Industrial parks and wherever high security is required.
Panels are most commonly 2100mm high but can also be supplied in 1800mm, 2400mm or 3000mm high. Panels are 2400mm wide. Pickets are made from galvanised and powdercoated 25mm x 25mm steel, typically with a crimped spear on top. In some case, our customers ask for the spears to be cut of, leaving a square or diagonal finish.
Galvanised or powdercoated steel picket panels (manufactured in our factory made to measure). We can use either square or round pickets for made to measure panels.
Posts
We use steel posts. Most commonly the posts are powdercoated black. Posts are either 65mm x 65mm, or 75mm x 75mm. Depending on the size of your gates, we will use either 100mm x 100mm or 150mm x 150mm steel posts. We usually set posts in ground 700mm.
Other Options
We are often asked to set posts into a concrete gutter, approximately 200mm wide by 200mm deep. This gutter acts as a small retaining wall to keep bark chip and garden matter in place. In other cases we are asked to build a concrete or timber retaining wall and incorporate the fence into that. Generally we prefer concrete sleepers for commercial properties.
We also supply a tri-point roll formed steel picket. These offer an even higher level of security and are commonly used in Electricity Substations and other high security facilities. Heights are often 3000mm, with 75mm x 75mm posts set in ground 800mm.
Where there is a slope, we supply raked panels, so that there is no gap left under the fence. As a general rule, where the slop is more than 5 degrees we will supply raked panels.
